LACP is an industry standard form of link aggregation by which network engineers join multiple physical links into one logical link called an EtherChannel or port channel.  Unlike with static EtherChannel, LACP is a dynamic port channel that employs health check mechanisms as a means of ensuring that broken or defective ports are disabled.  With static port channel, packet loss can continue without any corrective measures.
